Why Should I Get a Credential?

Career assistance is offered in a wide variety of work settings by staff who commonly come from a wide variety of backgrounds and receive very little formal training.  Without licensure available in the career development field, an official credential based on rigorous standards formally validates your professional competency, and elevates your credibility with clients and employers.

Benefits of Certification:

  • Industry-recognized credential identifies you as a field expert

  • Customers know that they are being served by a highly-trained professional

  • Your organization can display your credentials boosting it’s professional brand

  • Certification is portable, making you a valuable addition to any organization serving job seekers

Benefits of Online Instruction:

  • Remote, flexible delivery that can be accessed 24/7 through a convenient, online platform along with face-to-face Zoom or Skype sessions.

  • The course is extremely practical, and assignments are designed to enhance your work.

  • Flexible timeline and virtual meeting schedule negotiated between instructor and FCD student.

  • Upon completing this training, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion which is required when applying for a credential from the National Career Development Association and/or for the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certification through CCE-global.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a total of 120 hours of instruction:  24 hours of face-to-face sessions via Skype/Zoom or phone, and the remaining 96 hours to complete textbook reading, online assignments and projects. The course is typically completed in 3-5 months.

  • You must have a computer available at home or work with internet access, an email account, a printer, and Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download)

  • In addition to the course tuition, you must also purchase the course manual Facilitating Career Development: Student Manual, 4th Edition.  This manual can be purchased directly from the National Career Development Association (NCDA) Resource Store website.
